Papercut Telephone Box Cards by freaky-dragonlady Papercut Telephone Box Cards by freaky-dragonlady
I'm still doing papercut and felt like doing a little series of superheroes/ heroes in phone boxes.
SO
Superman changing in a telephone box (see? The link wasn't THAT tenuous), Batman phoning Commissioner Gordon for directions to a crime in a telephone box (he's only human) and the eleventh Doctor Who in his telephone box, the TaRDiS, looking rather chuffed waving the sonic screwdriver around.

These three took most of a day. Papercut from card with a scalpel knife, crinkled yellow paper to highlight each.

Batman and Superman are still available at my etsy shop: [link]

All your papercuts are amazing! All of them, these, your bookmarks...God, they're just so cool, like bowties. Please tell me that you sketch these out before hand, because otherwise I will have to go kill myself in astonishment.

Well, for all of the papercut work I do a doodle or two on paper to plan the shape, see if the silhouette is aesthetic enough and check it fits the card/bookmark size. Then I measure out a border (helps the card keep a little strength) lightly with pencil and then draw it on the card, light enough that I can rub any remaining lines off when it's all cut out.
So yes, I have to draw them first - otherwise knowing me I'd probably cut through a supporting peice and the image would fall out :)
Your avatar reminds me - I'm working on some dragon bookmarks at the mo but after mebbe I should do some Ghibli ones?:D
