Swish! It still feels like a new year to me, even here at the beginning of March.
I'm learning html at the moment so my portfolio website - made from scratch by my own hands! - will be up next month. Though being on the pc for these kind of hours again is giving me backache and our cat is sat almost on the keyboard, not quite understanding why I'm home but ignoring him. I'm also currently sifting through my paper portfolio to trim the fat for the website but it's hard to make decisions like that sometimes, as I'm sure quite a few of you know. Is it your best work or are you just particularly fond of it? Are you starting with your strongest piece? Etc, etc. Makes me actually miss my tutors peering over my shoulder at the black folder with a critical eye.
Anyway there's a few gaps, namely in the children's illustration section (I was told repeatedly at uni that I should try my hand at the black and white illustrations for 7-9 year olds) so I'm picking some old favourite stories and going for it in the next few days, after I have this html pinned down. I don't know whether or not to put my figure drawing on there either, they're only OK but do show technical ability I guess. Anyhow the children's illustrations will be appearing here for your critique soon enough.
I'm also, well, maybe, going to enter an illustration competition. I've only ever entered one, gutless as I am, so fingers crossed. If you're in the UK then it's the current AOI competition on their website, about the river Thames; deadline in two weeks so good luck.
Back in the real world ...no I won't bore you there. Keep drawing, painting, sculpting and doing what you do best.
Holiday at the end of the month! Wooo!
