I have been busy for the past...three months now? It's got to be, trying my hand at writing a comic, which is INCREDIBLY difficult and time consuming. I'll be putting up some of the art and concepts soon but I'm trying to cement the script before I begin drawing the issues. I've written almost 5 of the 10 I have planned but the design work, thankfully, is all done so...watch this space is all I can say really. Writing isn't my strongest suit, so this is a hard task - I wish I could get on with the drawing but I want that solid ground work done before the drawing commences.
Onwards! To more writing......
(I just re-read that and want to reiterate - this is a FUN challenge, trust me)

Hallo!
The website is on hiatus at the final leg. Erk.
But for now, I thought I'd give Etsy a try, so here's my new shop:

Ideas, critique and comments on my papercut works welcome. I'm intending to make some notebooks to add to the shop, but not a lot of stuff. All made by me of course, so far there's bookmarks and cards. It's fun to make but they take a few hours each. I'm still trying to get used to the etsy interface...
Hope everyone is well! Keep in touch, take care.

Swish! It still feels like a new year to me, even here at the beginning of March.
I'm learning html at the moment so my portfolio website - made from scratch by my own hands! - will be up next month. Though being on the pc for these kind of hours again is giving me backache and our cat is sat almost on the keyboard, not quite understanding why I'm home but ignoring him. I'm also currently sifting through my paper portfolio to trim the fat for the website but it's hard to make decisions like that sometimes, as I'm sure quite a few of you know. Is it your best work or are you just particularly fond of it? Are you starting with your strongest piece? Etc, etc. Makes me actually miss my tutors peering over my shoulder at the black folder with a critical eye.
Anyway there's a few gaps, namely in the children's illustration section (I was told repeatedly at uni that I should try my hand at the black and white illustrations for 7-9 year olds) so I'm picking some old favourite stories and going for it in the next few days, after I have this html pinned down. I don't know whether or not to put my figure drawing on there either, they're only OK but do show technical ability I guess. Anyhow the children's illustrations will be appearing here for your critique soon enough.
I'm also, well, maybe, going to enter an illustration competition. I've only ever entered one, gutless as I am, so fingers crossed. If you're in the UK then it's the current AOI competition on their website, about the river Thames; deadline in two weeks so good luck.
Back in the real world ...no I won't bore you there. Keep drawing, painting, sculpting and doing what you do best.
Holiday at the end of the month! Wooo!

Doo things,

1 min read
New year new start, though I realise I said that a few months ago when I got my equipment sorted, but NOOO this is it.
I've trawled webhosts to get that done soon and for the moment I'm just resolving my laziness by drawing every day for a month.
I realise this isn't a big deal, half of you probably do that anyway but Christmas made me lazy. The first two days images are up, the rest may be finished images or sketches, I don't know, I just know I have to keep on and get on.

Hope the new year is treating you all kindly, it's been real swings and roundabouts here already and it's only the 12th of Jan. Take care.

...is the look for my gallery now because ... I finally have my A3 scanner!
*Bring on the trumpets!*
Oh I'm sure I could have gotten my arse into gear sooner than this but I bought a fantastic 2nd hand one quite comfortably - it's the same model I used to use at uni, so all those horribly photographed (I am no photographer) images from the last 6 months or so have been replaced by lovely clean scans. You should see this beast, I'm going to have to get a bigger desk to accomodate it a little mor comfortably.
(Updated, though you guys probably won't notice the difference too much: Tank Girl, Chobits, Jabberwocky, Mr Toad, Huck&Tom, Fuschia, Tekkonkinkreet, Hook and Elphaba.)
To celebrate this step forward I have to go and create comething now, all I have in my sketchbook is rough superhero sketches and some rough FNV stuff. Hmm.
My website should be up and running...oh somewhen in December or January, I should think. Hold on! One step at a time! I'm a big coward when it comes to pushing my work, remember? It took me about 2 years after making this profile to actually start putting my work up on it....
But hey! Today I'm in a positive mood about my work, which hasn't happened much lately. The start of a new trend or the influence of new music to listen to whilst working? Ah, any and all I should think.
Whoo whoo!
